On Tuesday, 12 March 2019, at approximately at 13:29 Marine Anti-Poaching Unit (MAPU) received an anonymous tip off regarding poaching activity at Steenbras River Mouth.  The tip off was regarding a vessel and poachers active in the area.

MAPU liaised the information through to the City Of Cape Town Marine unit.  The unit responded immediately to the complaint.

CCT Marine Unit and Officials of DAFF apprehended 3 suspects with 3 bags containing West Coast Rock lobster tails.  A vehicle involved in the incident was also confiscated.

Above is a perfect example of what can be achieved when community and all role players work together.

We urge the public to report all suspicious activity and together we can make a difference.
